I read quite a few blogs and there are some that inspire you, make you laugh, or just think! One that catches my attention often is Say What You Wanna by Kita (please check her out http://saywhatuwanna.com/ !). A post that she did lately was about giving her readers more information about her…a Blogger 411. I decided to borrow her post and share with you all some things about myself…and please share with me what your answers would’ve been! And thanks Kita! As I wrote this, Mary J Blige’s song was steady playing in my head…what’s the 4-1-1 hun?…..you gotta put me on….
1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has your blog changed?
I started blogging around 2009 or so….My sister suggested that since loved writing, that I should start a blog. I had just moved back to home (Atlanta) from living in the Washington DC area. I had a lot to share because I had changed so much (grew up!) while I had been away. Blogging really helped me to understand the thoughts and feelings I was having. My blog had gone from mostly sharing my poetry to now sharing whatever comes to mind. I’m in the process of really trying to gain a better focus and share more posts!
2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?
I received my Bachelors of Arts in English and Masters of Education in Counseling and Student Development from Tuskegee University (it is a true family school….more on that later!). I am currently in process of gaining admittance to a school for my Educational Specialist degree and who knows…a Doctoral degree might not be too far behind!
3. Where have you traveled?
I am very familiar with the East coast from New York to Florida, I have even ventured to Bermuda and Jamaica (for our wedding!). However, I really want to travel west more and overseas. Have passport…will travel!
4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
Hmmmm, the Hubbs and I talk about this quite often. I would save half first, pay off all debt, and then purchase a home for us outright. The rest would be divided among family, charity, and other pleasures that we desire (travel especially).
5. What are your 3 biggest pet peeves?
Let’s see…that is one that thing that I don’t give much thought to. But my peeves are not thinking of others (time and feelings), people who don’t want to do better or know more, and close-minded people.
6. What is your favorite movie?
I believe that Love Jones tops my list….I’m such a romantic at heart…can y’all tell? Smile!
7. What is your drink of choice; wine, beer, or liquor. Or Water, Soda, Tea?
I love beverages! I drink wine, water, and tea more than any of the other choices.
8. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?
I enjoy reading, writing, manis/pedis, massages, and even at times catching up with my friends.
9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?
I had to think on this a little….I would choose Target or Macy’s. I can get clothes, shoes, things for the Hubbs, and the house at either of these stores.
10. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.
I always felt embarrassed that I had developed so much earlier than my peers. I was always so insecure about my chest and the older I got…the more I thought that guys were looking at it all the time and that girls were jealous because they didn’t have any or enough. As I became an adult, I began to embrace this embarrassment and not let it define me. And thank God, I also got a few more curves to balance things out per se. Now I’m striving to be healthy…period. 🙂
11. What day would you love to relive again?
Again…hard answer to give….
My wedding day so that I can take it all in again…did I miss something? Also want to spend more time with certain friends that I don’t think I got a chance to do that! 😦
The day before my Uncle or my Grandfather passed away…I wasn’t able to say good-bye to either one…I think of them daily and I have so much more to say/share with them!
12. If your life was turned into a movie… what actor would play you?
I always said that I wanted Nia Long to play me in a movie! And now that she has had another child, despite her age, she is even more inspiring. Love her charisma and empowering ways!
13. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years?
First job ever was at Six Flags Over Georgia in the merchandising department and I’ve worked retail ever since in some capacity up until I received my Masters. These were always summer jobs…I wasn’t allowed to work when school was in session.
14. Where do you see your life 5 years from now?
In five years, the Hubbs and I would’ve had our little bambino and I would be on the path to get licensed as a Professional Counselor. I want to open up my own center or even a school! Not sure…but the passion to do my own thing is there.
Now, it’s your turn…what’s the 411 hon…?
